Fish Poetry

You heard me.

Poems of the Absurd: Lander I, Lander II

I'll be archiving future poems in the Maria's Sea Collection. You know, since nothing else seems to be filling it up at the moment.

Anyway, I tried spending some time leisurely strolling through the grocery store and doodling on the subway today instead of trying to do scripts. Lander I actually seemed kind of frightening when I wrote it in the metro. Not so much now, though.

I'll try something new tomorrow, too. I'll try the Chinese Tea thing, I think. There's a nice tea house down the street called Cha Guan that has a nice sitting room... maybe I'll spend an hour or so there and Take It Easy.

Despair

It turns out that locking yourself in solitary confinement for a week doesn't really help you focus. Or produce. The only thing I've cooked up is a strange internal restlessness and nebulous dread.

There are some pages that are pretty close to done, but I can't focus long enough to do it. I start feeling ants crawl around on the inside of my head and I have to get up and... sleep. Or pace. Or sleep some more. I feel a little crazy. Crazier than usual, anyway.

... ...

I'll try posting again tomorrow, after work. Maybe hearing other human voices will clear out my head.

Somehow my old work method of locking myself in doesn't seem to work anymore... ...

I'm going to try out different thing each day this week and see what works. Maybe taking a walk between pages, snacking, pushups, reading... singing? Sitting differently? Listening to talk radio? re-arrange my furniture? Cleaning? I have no idea. I'll post results and pages each night.

Helpful ideas highly appreciated.

tl;dr: 2009, same as 2008: I CAN'T TAKE IT EASY.

Sidenote:
Curious Factory is looking for several French voice actress.
They're also looking for some English male voice actors.
Why not take a look, ze?
June in Winter

Forget color. This is much better.

June in Winter: 8, 9, 10, 11 (READ IN ORDER!)

Sorry about the shit update rate. Anyway, I'm in Ontario until the 26th, but I'll be back on the case after that: I'm locking myself in my apartment from the 27th to Jan 1st (inclusive) and DRAWING LIKE MAD. UNPAID VACATION FOR COMIC UPDATES. THAT'S HOW CRAZY I AM.

Next target update: Jan 2nd.

Among other things, Metal Fist has blossomed into something wonderful. I'm giving it its own section. SHIT JUST GOT REAL, DAWG. Look forward to it! New Top Pic

Just roughly sketched.

Top Pic: Cellar Library
Hi res: Cellar Library (by request)

I'd like to build myself an underground library someday... maybe underneath a little cabin in the middle of nowhere. I could read, paint, drink tea and draw all day... ... and maybe surf the net? : (

Comics in a bit.
HH 23-24 [END]

Playing Wind God Girl on the piano is great.
Oh, Aya. Why are you such a tengu?

HH: 23-24 [END] read in order!
HH (chinese): 16-23 (Thanks, Cless!)

Bestiary: Kanami, Crowbar (Thanks, Plaid_Knight!)

I can take it easy like this!

HH 22

I wrote the rest of the HH strips during the weekend. HH should finish sometime either this week or next week depending on whether I can stay awake after work or not. April in Autumn will (finally) get done after that (should take 1 week). Metal Fist Part I is coming along nicely (some fun technical challenges like extreme angles, turning pages upside down during action sequences, burnt flesh effects, etc). MF part 1 is 31 pages, including the cover. No previews -- I don't want to give any spoilers. Should take one or two more weekends to finish up.

The snax game is behind schedule, but I'll work on it during lunchbreaks at my day job -- there's no rush on that, really.

HH: 22

Once April in Autumn is finished up, I'll be updating the Penny section in the Maria's Sea Collection on weekdays, updating once every friday night/Saturday morning. Other stories (Metal Fist, etc.) will continue on weekends (updating Sunday night/Monday morning, if possible).

Serial comedy comics will probably be on hiatus for a long time, after HH and April in Autumn are done. Winter is the season for SRSGRIMDARK4REEL.

Take... take it... ... ...I can't take it easy. WHY CAN'T I TAKE IT EASY LIKE THIS?!

Snax Game still in Progress...

Well, the engine is coming along fine. I'll be extending the normal "GO NORTH" stuff to include the battle commands, now. After that, it'll be the time and date system... then doing all the interface parts and the art. Should take a while.

You can get an idea of the gameplay from these layout roughs: 000 , 001

Basically, it's a classic text adventure exploration game with some modern touches (linked ability progression to Persona 3-style character event progression + date and time systems + some real-time battle inputs + some graphics).

Anyway, I fully expect that I'll be done enough of the engine that I can start working on text and script content during lunch hours again, so HH should resume next week.

As for Metal Fist, I spent the weekend mulling things over, drawing a bit, then throwing things out and doing a rewrite. It'svery solid now and I'm actually very pleased with the result. I've locked it down: no more changes -- any more touches it'd be overworked anyhow. I'll get on the case and actually draw the damn thing this weekend.

In the meantime:

Gift Art: Snax (So moe. Thanks again, Maddy!)
Bestiary: Snax (Also moe. Thanks, Plaid_Knight!)

Well, that's all for now. I'll check in again at the end of this week and let you know how the game's shaping up.

Take it easy!

Snax Game in Progress

No weekday comic updates for the rest of this week and all of next week -- I'm working on the Snax game engine and art assets at home. I've reached the point where further design work during lunch hours requires an actual framework to graft the content on to.

I'll post progress updates and screenshots as art assets, animation and menus are completed, though.

Also, weekend updates (Metal Fist) will still go ahead as normal.
